Good morning!
Many of my clients have been asking me over the years what items they should own for certain wardrobe issues. So, depending on the fashion emergency or wardrobe malfunction, I directed my clients to a certain product that I knew would resolve a few of their particular wardrobe issues: 1. Pant hems that come out, 2. Deodorant stains on a dark T-shirt, or 3. Unsightly pilling on a knit sweater. Do any of these sound familiar to you?
Have you ever caught your pant hem on something only to have the threads break and pull out leaving your hemline dragging on the floor? What did you do? Let me guess. If you didn’t have the correct product to fix it you were left with doing the next best thing: Scotch tape it or safety pin it back up, right? Been there, done that.
We’ve all had something like this happen to us and we were left doing the best we could at the time, which probably wasn’t so good. The incident may have left you embarrassed or worse, drained your confidence so that you were not able to perform your best. Just so you know…You’re not the only one.
Because I have had so many of my clients experience wardrobe emergencies and malfunctions, I decided to put all of my favorites tools together for you in a little guide I call, “The Top 5 Must-Have Wardrobe Tools.” Keep them in your car as an emergency kit of sorts, and feel confident that should you experience an emergency moment, you’ll be prepared.
These wardrobe tools are great to carry with you for everyday emergencies. And you especially want to remember to carry them when you’re:
- about to give a presentation;
- going on a job interview or meeting a new client.
- headed out of town for the weekend;
- attending a special event.

I know you’ll find these wardrobe tools useful for everyday. And as you use them, you’ll discover many more ways that these tools will come in handy.
Just the other day one of my clients was wearing a beautiful leather belt that she bought in Italy. (If you’re reading you know who you are!) And she asked me what to do about the long end “tail” that kept sticking out from her waist. I suggested that she take it to a leather shop and have them shorten it.
But then later on, I thought about it some more and wanted to come up with a better solution. Like most of our clothes and accessories we want the option to wear them a few different ways. A belt is no different. Sometimes, we like to wear our favorite belt hugging our waistline over a dress like my client was wearing, and sometimes we want to slip it through our belt loops on our favorite pair of hip hugger jeans.
The problem is, the belt may fit fine when it’s slipped through belt loops on our pants, but when we wear it at our waist, it needs to be cinched in more. So we are left with a lot of the loose end (the “tail”) of the belt flapping in the wind, ruining our polished look.
Has this happened to you? It’s happened to me. And in the past I have wrestled with the belt, wrapping it or tucking it and looping it under. But all that does is add unnecessary bulk and it never stays quite put where I want it. I never feel totally put together.
Here’s the solution: Cut off a piece of the Hollywood Fashion Tape, stick it on the inside of the “tail,” and press it against the outside of your belt. It will stay secure there all day and won’t get in your way. Problem solved.
Now, it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. If you own any of these wardrobe tools, what have you used them for? If you’ve had a fashion emergency in the past, what tool could have saved you? Your insights and inspiration are appreciated so please share your stories in the comments below.
