The first thing you should ask is, “What trends suit me?”
Because if the trend doesn’t feel right for you, please don’t buy it for fashion sake. As I’ve said time and time again, don’t go out and buy any trend just because it’s trending in the fashion world. Buy a trend because it feels like you…it suits your Personality and how you want to express yourself to the world that is always looking.
Of course, if you’re 20 something and are just discovering what your true style looks like (This age is so fun for doing that!), or you’re a fashion living-on-the-edge maverick kind of girl, the previous statement wouldn’t necessarily apply to you. 1) You’re pretty much experimenting with your style, trying everything (I’m talking to you, my younger girls!), or 2) Jumping in on all the hottest styles is your style, you Fashion Maverick you!
Whatever category you fall into, no matter what your Personality, keep reading because the exciting thing about fashion is seeing what’s trending for the season and how they’ll work into your wardrobe.
As you’ll notice many of the trends I’m about to share with you are more about the fabric and texture than anything else. However it doesn’t mean that I’m giving you permission to dive into the depths of your closet and gleefully pull out an 80’s style “whatever” just because the fabrication is listed here.
As much as I am not a big proponent in jumping in on the latest trends, I don’t want to see you walking the streets looking “dated” either. The excepting is an item that shouts “classic.” Got my drift?
Ok, girls, here’s some of my faves.
Trending Textures:
- Shearling – Think Marlon Brando in “On the Waterfront.” Then toss on your favorite dress for a cozy, edgy, and feminine look.
- Velvet – It always feels and looks so luxurious. Whether it be in a pantsuit or a holiday dress, velvet is a sumptuous way to elevate your look.
Trending Details:
- Ruffles – The ultimate romantic detail for those Charming Femmes or if you just want to bring out your feminine side. Wear a little here or a lot there…to suit your style and your passion. ??
- Sequins – If bling is your thing, then this season is for you. Bling in a big way or go home.
Trending Fabrics:
- Leopard – Always a classic. Love it a little or love it a lot, Fall is the time to wear the spot.
- Tartans – AKA: Plaid. Do it big and bold or small and sweet.
PS: Leopard and Tartan mixes well with almost any other print or pattern. If you’re unsure how to mix prints and patterns read my past blog post: “How to become a master at mixing it up.”
Like most trends, the designer looks are taken to the extreme, so it can be a little intimidating. Don’t let the fashion drama drag you down. Once you get into the stores you’ll see more ‘wearable” styles. These images are only to inspire you and keep you abreast of trends to look for when you’re out there dragging the stores. 🙂
So…which trend excites you the most? Hop on over to our blog, and post your thoughts in the comment section. I’d love to hear from you.
Oh… and before I go, in case you’re wondering, “Hey, Michelle, what about ‘styles’ – what are the latest styles?!” I’m so happy you asked. Stay tuned…the next newsletter is all about “style.”
That’s it for this week. Now, it’s your turn. I’d love to hear from you. Your insights and inspiration are appreciated so please share your stories in the comments below.
If you have a question also post it in the comment section below. I check it daily. Since the topic is always about fashion or style no question that you ask will be “off Topic.”
That means as far as I’m concerned, when you ask a question that is the topic. Everyone else who’s reading it can follow up on my answer. There will be no questions that you ask that will be too far off topic because your question will be the current topic. So…ask away!
Oh…and your email address is not “required” even though it says so. 🙂 Don’t even ask.
Blog me.
Love,
~Michelle

I love the ruffles and leopard. Now if I can only find some ruffles in a leopard print blouse! lol.
Thanks,
Nan
Hi, Nan,
I’m with you sister. I love both too. I’ve never been much of a ruffle girl but lately I have been so into ruffles and bows! And I was never a bow girl.
Have fun with the trends!
